Please come and join us for Teaching Assistant (TA) Day/Orientation

Doors open at 8:30 am, Pond Inlet.

Saturday September 9 | 9:00 am - 4:00 pm | Pond Inlet (Map)

Throughout the day you will have the opportunity to try out some active learning strategies, chat with your peers and ask experienced TAs to share their insights with you.  You will learn about, or have a brief refresher on the different resources on campus that can support your work.  We will also find a few minutes to explore one of Brock‚Äôs trails or take a mindful moment.

A full list and details of workshops will be available at the beginning of September, until then please register and we will make sure you receive updates.

Teaching Assistant (TA) DAY offers a full day of professional development for Brock University teaching assistants.  Participation in the full day conference earns 3 TA credits towards a TA certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.   See here for more details about our Certificate programs and other professional development with the Centre for Pedagogical Innovation.

9:00 am - 10:30 am Active Learning Strategies

10:45 am - 11:30 am Pedagogical Walk & Talk or Mindfulness or visit members of Brock Univerity who can support your work as a Teaching Assistant, Marker Grader, Lab Demonstrator and Tutorial Leader

11:30 am - 12:30 pm Concurrent Session One (On TA DAY - choose one session)

For those new to the role of TA, lab demonstrator, or marker/grader or anyone would like a refresher.

  • What do the first day of class

For TAs with some experience you might be interested in workshops on:

  • Design for Learning 
  • Maximizing Digital Accessibility
  • Mental Wellness in the Classroom
